Our Halloween will not suck this year . Are you doing anything special for Halloween? We already visited our local pumpkin patch and got ourselves some nice cheap pumpkins. By checking Yelp, we found a patch that sells pumpkins for half the price its next door neighbors sell them for. Part of our family tradition is to visit these pumpkin farms...
Cheap Computer Hardware
We all know what it is like, you have kids that need computer hardware upgrades for school or college or you just need another machine or monitor around the house. If you are buying secondary computer hardware does it need to be top of the line? Not really. Here is my point. I needed a second lcd monitor around the house. Do I need a top of the line...
Five Tips for Paying off a Loan Early
Being in debt stinks. I’ve always felt that owing the bank (or some finance company) money is like having something hanging over your head. If anything goes wrong and causes you to miss your monthly payment, your whole world could quickly come crashing in around you. I do understand, though, that debt is a necessary tool for many families. Let’s...

Unlocked: What The Maintenance Man Taught Me About Finances
I got home one day and my apartment door was unlocked. I found this out because I hold on to the door before trying to open it because my key sticks and it is easier to get a good grip that way. When I put the key in and tried to turn it turned easily because the door was already unlocked . Now since I check the door after locking it I was immediately...
The Audacity to Waste Money for Better Finances
The Audacity to Waste Money for Better Finances
I always thought it would be great if a screen door would work with the double french doors in my kitchen. That way, air could come in without the bugs having access to my house. Recently, I saw a retractable screen door at a friend’s house. It would be the perfect solution I thought, until he told me it costs $700 to get it installed. $700?!...
Accidental Frugality – Can You Live on Half of Your Income?
Maybe you just got robbed by Zorro or maybe there’s now an unexpected child support payment (oh snap!?) — whatever the circumstances are, would you be able to live on half of your income? A few years ago, I was reading a blog post by Trent at The Simple Dollar regarding living on half of your income, and at the time I thought to myself: ...

Spring Break: Top Ways to Protect Yourself (Financially)
As this nifty infographic from Online Schools reminds us, the season of sex, alcohol, and bad decisions is rapidly upon us. All of that fun and sun soaked up during spring break costs a pretty penny, however. Between Florida and Texas alone, students spend an estimated $1 billion. College students on average spend $1100 a week on spring break...

Robby Wash Laundry Ball- Review and Giveaway
I was recently asked to review a laundry product called Robby Wash Laundry Ball by Oransi. This caught my eye because you can imagine that having four children means you do a lot of laundry, especially given the fact that our boys “love dirt”. So who is the company behind this new laundry product? Here’s some info from a press...
How Does Your Spending Stack Up Against Your Neighbors?
I lost a good couple of hours of my life this week to a website that a friend directed me to called Bundle.com. This site lets you look at the aggregated monthly spending habits of people in any city, county, or state in the U.S. You can further break it down by age groups, family  Read More →
