One of the ways to save money that I find is simple is to line dry my clothes . I live in an apartment without a balcony so I bought a folding drying rack. I simply put the clothes in the washer and then when they are done I hand them on the drying rack in the second bedroom. The windows are open during the day so fresh air and sunlight come pouring in. The clothes dry in a few hours and I save money from not using the drier. It is especially great...

I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month. This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t...

Discover card is pleased to announce that they have improved the cash back rewards program and made it a little easier and more fun to use. Discover  is a great credit card to have as it offers 3% cash back and you get rotating rewards that offer up to 5% cash back every quarter. I use this card for most of my purchases and then use it strictly for gas during the summer as the rewards on gas are the highest at that time. The biggest changes come...

My Pet : I have a cat and he is currently the love of my life. He welcomes me home (well as much as cats do) and is just a furry bundle of joy to play with when he is in the mood. I have gotten mad at him at …  Read More →

I never thought I would be saying this but I just got hit with a bank fee. I use ING as my main bank but since it is an online bank I have another bank (which shall not be named) for times when I need to deposit a check or get quarters or something like that. I utilize the online banking system and since I never keep more than $20 in there (it does not bear interest) I glance at the statements…  Read More →

Learning the basics of personal finance is often saved until our first brush with student debt. In the present economic environment though, this can be a difficult lesson, with very little room for error. As the student lifestyle can be an expensive one, this shortage of jobs can make paying off our student debt a daunting prospect. So, the personal finance learning curve needs to be a steep one. Today I paid $0.00 out of pocket for $10.83 worth of items . I ended up doing this transaction three times because the first time I got Lysol instead of Oust which was listed on the deal. Then after returning all of it the Oust was the wrong size and the third time there was no more of the correct size. The cashier was very nice about it and simply told me to go get the correct item and she would …  Read More →
